Amazon Favorites: Books

(This post contains affiliate links.)

Here is a list of our favorite books at the moment all of which are available at Amazon right now.

Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor

This is the most spellbinding work of fiction that I have read in years. I am completely in awe of this book as it intertwines elements of fantasy and science fiction genres with ethnographic and metafictional content. This book is not for the tender-hearted as it is heavy with themes of weaponized rape and sexual violence as well as genital mutilation, war and revenge, but you really should not let those topics discourage you from reading this book and other works by this author.

Ghostbusters Little Golden Book

Jack got this book for Winter Solstice from his Auntie and he totally digs it. It’s equal parts absurd and adorable as kid books go. It edits down the events of the original Ghostbusters movie into a child-friendly little golden book.

The Rough-Face Girl by Rafe Martin illustrated by David Shanonn

This book was a favorite from my childhood, and I got it for Jack from Amazon for less than four dollars with a promotion. It’s a spin on the classic Cinderella fairy tale, and the illustrations are gorgeous.

The Darkangel by Meredith Ann Pierce

This is one of my guilty pleasure books. It was a favorite of mine in junior high and was fun to re-visit over winter break. It’s very 80’s and intertwines it’s 80’s fantasy genre themes with the vampire ones in a really unique way as vampire novels go.
