Jack turned four last weekend, and we celebrated with pizza, cake, ice cream, balloons, presents, and MONSTER JAM! We had a total blast, and as of yesterday, we’re still recovering. My plan, (don’t laugh) now that Jack is four, is to start making him sit for practical homeschool lessons. We’ve been focusing on letters and […]
As I push my front door open, after a long shift at work, I am greeted with an excited “HI!” from Jack as he charges into my arms, jabbering all the while, as he tells me about his day. Greetings such as this warm my chilly little heart after a long day of “customer service.” […]
Jack is closer to being a two-year-old, then he is to a one-year-old. A fact which continues to boggle my mind daily. Where did this big boy come from? He was 30 pounds at his last baby well checkup. It seems like another lifetime ago that I was counting his breaths as his tiny 3-pound […]

Today is the one-year anniversary of Jacks homecoming. On this day, last year after 65 days in the neonatal intensive care unit, Jack came home with us. My husband and I had everything we needed, but we were in no way prepared, but that didn’t matter. Jack was home. He was all ours. We didn’t […]
This past week Jack’s diet was more like that of a toddler. More cups, less bottles. Lot’s of self feeding, and table food. Cheerios. Are. Everywhere. I sweep the floor countless times a day. Jack has been fairly easy to get to nap during the day, but very difficult to put to bed at night. […]
I’m a Fuerte Avocado tree, and I’m one year old.
Jack had his monthly visit with his occupational therapist on Monday, she says keep up the good work. She expects him to start walking anytime now, but no hurry. Jacks teething saga continues, he’s got three teeth on the bottom now, and one on top. Plus another top one has just barely started cutting. For […]
Yesterday marked my second Mother’s Day. I found this card on Jacks incubator last Mother’s Day. It was put there by the ‘sunshine committee’, a group of nurses at the hospital where Jack was born. They make heartwarming things like this for the NICU parents on Holidays. How amazing is that!? As if NICU […]
Jacks Grammy and I , took him on his very first mall trip yesterday. He did really well. He loves to people watch. He definitely hit his limit after a couple shops though. Next time we will take daddy with us, for some extra hands.
As promised, here are Jacks 12 month chalkboard pictures. I can’t believe my baby boy is over a year old. This time last year, we were spending our days and nights, watching him sleep in his incubator. Our home was a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit. Jacks has come so far over the last […]
The past couple of weeks have been a little hectic. But the birthday party went off without a hitch (even if we did forget to put out the bubble machine.) Jack is still teething, that whole top row is coming in, poor baby. Jack likes to feed himself table food more, and more every day. […]
He came flying out of me (The doctor told me to push, then she told me to stop pushing, but I couldn’t stop.) She caught him in mid air! True story.
